The activities are distributed among two sections. They
concern:
- Astrometry and Dynamics of Stellar
Systems
- since 1878 the determination of orbits of double
stars, needed to determine the masses of double
stars, a fundamental parameter in astrophysics
- exploitation of double and multiple star
observations by the ESA astrometric satellite
HIPPARCOS e.g. the parallaxes
- CCD observations of double and multiple stars in
order to obtain accurate differential astrometry
and photometry.
- Astrometry and Dynamics of objects in the Solar System
- since 1905 precise positioning of asteroids,
observed at the R.O.B. and at European Southern
Observatory (ESO) in Chili.
