2.3. Quaternary sediments
An important parameter in order identify fault activity is the
subsidence rate. Borehole database (more than 12500 data) were
extracted from the BRGM borehole data bank. This database is
organised in location, formation type, age and depth. By
including these data into a GIS, it is possible to extract
surfaces (i.e. Quaternary base level, quaternary isopach map -
850 wells). By analysing these maps, zones of fast subsidence
have been identified.
