2.3. Quaternary sediments

An important parameter in order identify fault activity is the subsidence rate. Borehole database (more than 12500 data) were extracted from the BRGM borehole data bank. This database is organised in location, formation type, age and depth. By including these data into a GIS, it is possible to extract surfaces (i.e. Quaternary base level, quaternary isopach map - 850 wells). By analysing these maps, zones of fast subsidence have been identified.
