The EUREF Permanent Network (EPN) is a voluntary federation of over 100 self-funding agencies, universities, and research institutions in more than 30 European countries. They work together to maintain the European Terrestrial Reference System (ETRS89) which is the single Europe-wide standard coordinate reference system adopted by the European Commission.
The mission of the SIDC is to advance knowledge on the Sun and its influence on the solar system, through research and observations. We provide this knowledge and expertise to the scientific community, to the society, the government and the industry through operational services and dissemination at both the national and the international level.
Many colleagues have decided to create a Contact Group dedicated to Astrobiology, which is a very new research theme, well developed in the US and in some countries of the EU, but not very mature in our country.
Astrobiology is the study of the origin, the evolution and the distribution of life in the Universe. It is a multidisciplinary research aiming to a better understanding of how life may appear and evolve on Earth and on other planets. Astrobiology is closely related to life science, paleontology, geology, chemistry, geophysics, as well as space science exploration, astronomy and astrophysics and even law and philosophy.
