Special Stamps on the Occasion of the Observatory’s 200th Anniversary
Since 31 August 2026, stamp collectors have been able to purchase at Bpost five stamps illustrating instruments linked to the Royal Observatory of Belgium. They were issued to mark the institute’s 200th anniversary.
These stamps, presented on a special sheet, depict five instruments that are important to the fields in which the Observatory operates:
- The Zeiss projector at the Royal Observatory of Belgium’s Planetarium;
- The Proba-3 satellite, which carries the ASPIICS instrument managed by the Observatory;
- The Uccle solar dome, with a close-up of its USET equatorial mount;
- The Observatory’s Schmidt telescope;
- A seismometer.
